On Saturday, female architects and designers from IAA and Hollis+Miller worked with Girl Scouts to complete their Cookie Construction final build at Crown Center. For the past several months, Team Galaxy Girls has been working to design a 3-D space camp – complete with stars, planets and a rocket – made entirely out of cookie boxes. The structure was out of this world! (Get it?)
The purpose of the Cookie Construction program is to offer young girls a glimpse into architecture and design professions, and equip them with the proper skill set to pursue related interests and career options. All those involved from our office had a great time working with the Girl Scouts to develop this very cool concept, and learn a few skills along the way. Way to go Team Galaxy Girls!
The structures will remain up at Crown Center until March 25. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and cast a vote for Team Galaxy Girl’s build as fan favorite!
