The American Institute of Architects, Springfield Chapter, hosted the 2014 Central States Region Design Excellence Awards on Friday, October 24, 2014, at the historic Gillioz Theatre in downtown Springfield.  Eligible submissions included projects from any Central States Region architect or projects located within the Central States Region submitted by an AIA member.  The Central States Region includes Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.

The Roasterie Coffee Factory Expansion + Café Addition received a Citation Award in the Architecture – Adaptive Reuse category.  Juror comments included: “It’s clear that this project makes a statement and that the building amplifies the brand of the company,” and “We appreciate that this project re-purposed an existing structure (and airplane) to create a new dynamic site (stage) within the urban context.”
