How can a youth sports facility feel as thrilling and professional as a major-league stadium while still welcoming families and serving the broader community? The design challenge for Homefield Kansas City was to do exactly that. Working alongside Populous, our team contributed to the interior design of this new construction project, helping shape spaces that inspire young athletes, provide comfortable and engaging areas for families and spectators, and support community events—all within one cohesive environment.
The design solution focused on creating an experience-driven interior that brings the excitement of a professional sports environment to a youth facility. Working closely with Populous, our team shaped high-energy athlete spaces, welcoming spectator and family areas, and flexible community zones. A standout feature, the “learning stair,” serves as both a circulation element and an interactive space for gathering and instruction, reinforcing the facility’s educational and athletic mission. Through thoughtful spatial planning, immersive graphics, and layered atmospheres, the interiors guide users through a dynamic journey, creating a cohesive identity that feels elite, engaging, and memorable for everyone who uses the facility.
