Meet our Highschool Intern, Myia

This year, we welcomed Myia to our team through our participation in the Kauffman Foundations’ real world learning initiative, Pro X. The program is made to prepare students for whatever comes beyond high school through a 5-week summer internship. Myia is a recent 2022 graduate of Fort Osage High School in Independence, MO and will be attending College of the Ozarks in the fall, studying civil engineering. The dream job for Myia, would be becoming a Professional Engineer, with a focus in Civil Engineering so that she can improve lives.

Additionally, Myia has a wealth of experience outside of her future career plans. She is a black belt in Taekwondo and is a presiding Judge in Eastern Jackson County and Independence youth courts!

The Pro X program features student coaching throughout and helped to coordinate Myia’s schedule with us in order to provide the best experience for her. Now that the internship is complete, Myia has 125 hours of experience that she can take onto their next phase of life.

We have no doubt that Myia will go on to do great things and we are so glad we got to be a part of her journey.
