Celebrating Ava Amirahmadi’s nomination to serve on the AIA Kansas City Board of Directors

We’re excited to share that Ava Amirahmadi, AIA, has been nominated to serve on the AIA Kansas City Board as a Three-Year Director! We celebrated this achievement with the KC design community last month at SUPER BIG NIGHT. Ava joins the Board of Directors along with three new board members: Megan Strayer, AIA; Stever Burton, AIA; and Tony McGrail, AIA.

Ava values the opportunity to collaborate and strengthen her connections within the inspiring Kansas City design community. After 12 years in New York City working with global design firms like Snøhetta, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, and Henning Larsen, Ava returned to Kansas City in 2023. Her decision was driven by a desire to immerse herself in a community where she could contribute to projects that truly connect with people and places. AIA Kansas City, through its Equity in Architecture, Women in Design, and PIERS groups, provided a crucial bridge to help her rebuild her professional network.

As a member of IAA’s ownership team, Ava offers a multifaceted perspective to the board, drawing from her experience across firms of different sizes and her roles as a designer, manager, and owner. Her lasting love for Kansas City and her involvement with the Urban Land Institute’s Emerging Leaders Program inspire her enthusiasm for advancing our profession, supporting the city’s growth, and nurturing a strong, connected, and inclusive design community.
